Ginna's Refuel Outage Is Fall 2012

Directions are as followed:  From Ginna Plant take Ontario Center Road South to RT. 104.  At the red light follow thru to RT 350 South, to Rt 441, at the light turn right and follow Rt 441 West to Canandaigua Rd.  At Canandaiqua Rd. turn left and head South to Gananda Development, 1st left after going through the intersection with a flashing light.  E.O.F. is on the left.

   I would like to thank all the Technicians that came to Ginna to support the refuel outage.  It was a very successful outage and all your hard work paid off to make a very safe outage.  We as a group made it through the outage without any safety incidents, including lost time accidents, first aids, or OSHA recordables.  I sincerely appreciate every individual technicians respect and dedication for doing a fine job.  And a special thanks to the technicians that covered all three sites: Calvert Cliffs, Nine Mile and Ginna.
DIRECTIONS TO THE SITE

Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, about twenty miles Northeast of Rochester in Westeren New York.
 
From the West/Rochester International Airport (ROC) directly to Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.
Total estimated time: 42 minutes.
Coming out of the airport turn right onto Route 204/Brooks Ave. Merge onto I-390 S. follow ~ 3 miles.  Take Exit 15 (to Left) to I-590 N.  I-590 N becomes NY 590 N.  Follow to Exit 10 B. NY 104 E (~ 4 miles).  Follow NY 104 E for ~ 8 mile to the Salt Road Exit.  Turn left onto Salt Road.  Follow Salt Road ~ 3 miles.  Turn righ onto Lake Road.  Follow Lake Road to the Power Plant. ~ 5 miles ahead on the left.
 
       *  For Plant access Parking - Turn left at the second marked driveway, follow to left at the bottom of hill.
       *  For the Ginna Training Center - Turn left at the second marked driveway, follow to right at the bottom of the hill.
NOTE:  ALL TRAINING IS OFF SITE AT THE E.O.F.  DIRECTIONS ARE ON THIS SITE.
Information on Ginna's outage 10/20/12
Ginna is a small PWR plant.  At this outage we are planning a refuel and some small projects.  More to come as they surface. 
1.   Directions are in the lower sections as for lodging.
2.   Dress code is as follows:  No shorts or tank tops, you may wear your own scrubs to and from work.  If your own scrubs are lost in a job Ginna will not replace them, since they do provide scrubs at the plant.
3.   Safety shoes are required, as is safety glasses.  Hard hats are supplied by the site since RP's only are required to wear a special color.  Decon techs please bring you Bartlett blue hard hat with you.  We do have replacement liner here to change out if needed.
4.   Access Authorization requires a PHQ filled out and returned to the badging dept., (3) days before your start date. The PHQs are on the upper left corner of this Blog.Please get them faxed back in within the time frame.
5.   NUF requiements:  NUF Quals are good for 4 years.
6.   Banking:  There is a Bank of America 5 miles from the plant, but they charge $6.00 per check cashed if yoyu do not have an account there.

8.   Reporting time is 07:00 sharp and be ready to do Bartlett paperwork.  Badging starts at 07:30.
SITE WORK HOURS/TRAINING START TIMES/ATTIRE
Regular site work hours are 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Hours may vary, as some departments are working flex schedules.  If you are attending training, please verify the state time.  If you are late you  may not be admitted to the class.  Be sure to bring a valid picture ID and SS Card and any other documentation that is requested.
 
Standard safety glasses and hard hats are to worn inside the plant.  Regular footwear, appropriate for the season, is usually worn frm the parking lot to the individual's reproting area.  The individual then may change into the foorwear that is appropriated for the work environment.

PLACES TO EAT
There is a full-service site cafeteria located inside the Protected Area.  There are various vending machines available for lunch in the Training Building.
 
Fast Food:
McDonald's and Pizza Hut are located on Rte. 104 at the Slocum/104 junction.
